Enable Nalanda 2.0 to launch Ekagrid in Bengaluru in 2022 Fund
This fund is to raise $10,000 for Nalanda 2.0 to enable it to launch Ekagrid, a first-of-its-kind world-class multidisciplinary research university in India, in 2022. Ekagrid (previously University of the Future in India) has reached an agreement with the Karnataka Government to establish Ekagrid in Bengaluru and have signed MOUs. Why does this matter? In the knowledge economy, nations with great universities will thrive. The great universities of the world - be it Stanford, UC Berkeley or MIT of today, or Nalanda of ancient India - are multidisciplinary in nature; serve as engines for research, education, and innovation; drive economic growth; solve the problems of society and humanity; and make lives better for people. However, even after over 70 years of independence, India does not have even one such world-class multidisciplinary research university. What is the current status? Nalanda 2.0 launched this university initiative in 2018. Thanks to the support of over 1075 donors to Nalanda 2.0, which includes Cisco employees and matching company contributions, and dedicated efforts of many, significant progress has been made: assembled an exceptional team, developed an actionable plan, established a Section 8 non-profit company in India with a stellar Board of Directors, announced the founding Chancellor and the founding COO, finalized branding, registered trademarks, and received approvals for 12A and 80G exemptions. Most recently, reached an agreement with the Karnataka Government to establish Ekagrid in Bengaluru and signed two MOUs. More details can be found at https://www.ekagrid.org/. What is the planned impact? When established, Ekagrid will spur the development of high technology industries in India and more broadly, solve problems that matter to society, create new knowledge, spur innovation and entrepreneurship, and prepare the next generation of innovators, researchers, entrepreneurs, and leaders. Thus, a gift to launch Ekagrid is a gift that will keep giving back, forever! How will funds be used? With your support, Nalanda 2.0 can complete the key next steps necessary for launching Ekagrid in 2022, including raising Phase 1 funds for the university, purchasing land, receiving regulatory approvals, selecting the founding VC and the founding team, and establishing additional partnerships with premier research universities.

The Fight Against COVID-19 Continues Fund
***UPDATE - 11/25/2021*** Thanksgiving has come around once again and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who have supported my cause. In the summer of 2020, I was delivering our homegrown plants by cart. I first thought of creating a website to assist me after experiencing the hassle of tracking orders and pricing. I worked on a site that users could use to document their interests and donate to the fund. I am happy to announce that thanks to the website, I have not only reached but exceeded my goal of $5,000! Thank you all for making this possible! ***UPDATE - 11/26/2020*** On this Thanksgiving day, I would like to give thanks to all those who have donated to this cause. Each and every dollar given by you all will help the Red Cross with their ongoing COVID-19 efforts and Janyaa with helping children in India continue their education. I would also like to extend my sincere appreciation to BrightFunds for letting me run this campaign on their platform. We will leave the fundraiser open until the end of the year, as every penny counts. About: Hunger is on the rise in America, compounded by the prolonged pandemic which caused extensive job losses in America. With the number of cases growing rapidly across the world, the fight against COVID-19 has to continue. The impact of this virus is profound in developing countries like India, where education took a dive because of the major digital divide. 320 million students face a lack of learning because of the school closures and not having basic internet, which is taken for granted in developed countries. I’ve decided to fight for both of these causes and started this fundraiser with the purpose to collect donations for the American Red Cross and Janyaa in India. The funds will be equally split between these foundations. The American Red Cross has adjusted their resources to provide necessities for quarantine shelters and food distribution centers. Janyaa has been helping 500,000 students across more than 900 schools over the past 11 years by building curriculum-based science & math material to help 6th - 10th grade children. To continue these efforts during this pandemic, they are organizing interactive online sessions with nearly 5000 students and working with them closely over the next few months until schools reopen their gates. This is an absolute necessity for these children as they don't have the support structure at home to help with their studies. In appreciation of your donation, you can choose from one of the following: I am very passionate about the game of golf, and I have played for almost ten years. I would love to share my knowledge of the sport, so if you donate $50 or more, I will spend an hour with you or your kid on the golf range. Please fill the form below if you are interested in a golf lesson and want to sign up: http://tiny.cc/GolfForm If you live in and around San Jose, you can come by and pick a traditional Indian plant. As quantities are limited, early donors get their preferred plants. Please fill the form below if you are interested in plants and want to learn more: http://tiny.cc/PlantForm

Fundraising for Kidspire Vietnam to enable chromebook refreshes for orphanages in Vietnam
On the first of July, I reached my 12-year milestone with VMware. Looking back I think one of my most memorable experiences was my trip to Vietnam to help setup computer classrooms for various orphanages. (More of the backstory to be found here: http://www.yellow-bricks.com/?s=vietnam) When reaching the 12-year milestone each VMware employee gets an amount to donate to a charity of choice. I decided to donate to Kidspire Vietnam as I know there are various classrooms that are up for a hardware refresh. With my milestone donation and a personal donation, I have been able to provide sufficient funds to enable Kidspire Vietnam to refresh a single full classroom (15 Chromebooks). ** UPDATE: we have collected sufficient funds to allow Kidspire to refresh 2 classrooms, when combined with my grant and personal donation that means 3 full classrooms can be refreshed, a total of 45 new Chromebooks!! ** With this fundraiser, I am hoping to enable Kidspire Vietnam to refresh at least one more additional classroom. The cost of a refresh is between 3500 USD and 4000 USD. Hopefully, we will be able to reach this goal. Believe me when I say that nothing beats seeing how much these kids enjoy learning about new technology and being able to interact with people over the internet. I would like to thank everyone upfront for donating, or considering to donate. Thanks, Duncan VMware // Yellow-Bricks.com
