Join in supporting Black@VMware’s #LivingHeritage campaign This fund was created to raise awareness and support for Black communities across the United States. Institutionalized and systemic racism means that Black people do not have the same opportunities as others and have longer “distance travelled” to get to the same places. We see this every day in lack of representation in universities and companies, to the senseless murders of Black people, in the streets, and in their own homes, and more recently how Black communities have been disproportionately impacted by COVID-19. In corporate settings, when it comes to the issues impacting Black communities, there is often no action and there continues to be silence. That silence is deafening, and it hurts. It hurts to not be acknowledged. It hurts to not receive the same level of support as your colleagues. It hurts to feel unsupported, unheard, and unseen. Black History Month was established in 1976 under President Gerald Ford, who encouraged Americans to "seize the opportunity to honor the too-often neglected accomplishments of Black Americans in every area of endeavor throughout our history.” Following a historic period of activism and community engagement in which cries for racial justice were heard throughout the world, Black History Month presents a unique opportunity to build on the momentum of the racial justice initiatives so many have generously supported. This Fund includes nonprofit organizations that are working diligently to promote economic and social justice for Black Americans and to fight racism and intolerance in the United States. The composition of nonprofits in this fund is subject to change.
