The theme of World Food Day 2021 is "our actions are our future". World Food Day celebrates the global progress made toward zero hunger and highlights the world’s commitment to ending world hunger by 2030. Celebrated annually on 16 October, World Food Day promotes global awareness and action for those who suffer from hunger, and to highlight the need to ensure healthy diets for all. Collective action across 150 countries is what makes World Food Day one of the most celebrated days of the United Nations’ calendar. Hundreds of events and outreach activities bring together governments, businesses, nongovernmental organizations (NGOs), the media, and general public. They promote worldwide awareness and action for those who suffer from hunger and for the need to ensure healthy diets for all. #WorldFoodDay 2021 will be marked a second time while countries around the world deal with the widespread effects of the global COVID-19 pandemic. Charities that enable people in extreme poverty to improve their quality of life. Focus areas emphasize promoting economic self-sufficiency and empowering community leaders for compounding impact, and going beyond saving lives to reducing concrete measures of acute suffering. Charities selected had low overhead and high transparency in their activities with high effectiveness-per-dollar as determined by watchdogs such as Giving What We Can and GiveWell, and on the ground as opposed to policy or research and development work.

Every day, millions of people around the world experience chronic hunger and food insecurity, despite the world's supply of food resources. Chronic hunger not only impacts physical health, but emotional health and growth and development, with several more far-reaching and often devastating impacts. World hunger is a symptom of several root causes, including poverty, conflict, famine, disease, natural disasters/climate change, global economics, and issues with food availability and accessibility, among others. The following organizations are working towards their shared mission of solving the global hunger crisis. These organizations provide food resources to communities in need around the world, prepare and distribute meals during times of crisis and disaster, implement sustainable food programs, and develop policies to drive food distribution and improve food accessibility worldwide.
